Description. Criticals, also referred to as throws, are powerful attacks that can only be used under certain conditions. If you aren't already doing it: play unlocked when trying to get a backstab. Roll through your opponents attack, turn around as quickly as possibly, take one step forward, attack. With a bit of luck, you'll get the backstab.
Don't block, and better yet don't hold any other buttons at the time you try to backstab. Also to riposte you have to parry first, this is done with the L2 button and a shield (you swing the shield a bit).
I figured as a whip backstab/reposte, they could wrap the neck, and slam the face/back of the head into the ground, and stomp on it, or at least soccer kick it I also can't get a shield in right hand to do an animation other that a mere strike, at least in Demons Souls, it was like the mace for backstab/reposte
